CCSD School Choice Month Offers School Reassignment Beginning Feb. 1

February is School Choice Month for the Cherokee County School District, and a new online process makes it easier than ever to request a school reassignment!  

School Choice Request Process

In February, CCSD opens the opportunity for parents to request a school reassignment for the next school year, including for our STEM and STEAM Academies.  Registration for our online high school choice, i-Grad Virtual Academy, will begin in April.  Our School Board is laser focused on ensuring our students are learning more, growing more, and achieving more in our classrooms than they could anywhere else!

• Apply Feb. 1-March 1 for school choice reassignment for any of the 17 schools with capacity for next school year: 13 elementary schools (including five STEM and STEAM Academies): Arnold Mill ES, Ball Ground ES STEM Academy, Bascomb ES, Boston ES, Free Home ES, Hasty ES Fine Arts Academy, Holly Springs ES STEM Academy, Indian Knoll ES, Knox ES STEM Academy, Macedonia ES, Mountain Road ES, Oak Grove ES STEAM Academy, and Sixes ES; three middle schools: Freedom MS, Mill Creek MS, and Woodstock MS; and one high school: River Ridge HS.  Reassignment guidelines (please read these before applying) and the online application are posted on our website online here, then click School Reassignment.  The Student Reassignment Application process uses an online, mobile friendly form that doesn’t require any downloads, scanning, or printing for most applications.  If you have any questions, please contact the front office of your child’s current school.

Kindergarten and New to CCSD Enrollment

Registration for kindergarten and Grades 1-12 new student enrollment for next school year will begin in March.  Information will be posted in advance on our website at www.cherokeek12.net.

Pre-K Applications

The application window for CCSD’s Pre-K program lottery for next school year is Feb. 2-27, and information is posted online here.  CCSD’s Head Start 3- and 4-year-old preschool program at Johnston Preschool Center and Ralph Bunche Center will begin registration on March 1, and information is posted online here.
